Pretend Play Ideas
Board Book Houses
Activity:I used all of our board books at home to create different parts of a doll house for my daughter. She loved being able to walk from room to room within the board books. It was a new fun way to play with dolls since we do it basically every single day!
Pot, Pans, and Water Play
Activity:
Whenever I need to get some cooking or cleaning done in the kitchen I love to fill up pots and pans with water. Sometimes we add food coloring to the pots. Yes, this is more cleaning in the end, but the kids LOVE it and it also keeps them entertained for quite a while! They love adding toy animals and play items to the water! We sometimes add bubbles too. WARNING- Put towels down; especially if you have a boy that loves to lift heavy things! I learned this the hard way!
Language Arts & Math Link:
This activity could be used when learning the letter P for pots/pans for the letter W for water. You can give the kids measuring cups to learn about measuring. You can ask them to count objects while giving the toys a bath in the water. You could also discuss volume of water; which one has more liquid in it and which one has less.
